My name is Ellie Park and I am a 18 year old, second year junior, road racing cyclist based in Glasgow. I am currently part of Team 22 women’s Race Team and also have received great support regarding race kit from Billy Bilsland Cycles for many years and I am coached by James McCallum at Whats Your M.E.T.A

I began racing competitively in BMX when I was 9 years old. However when I was 11, just after winning the Under 12 Scottish BMX racing champs, my dad took me along to another local cycling club, Glasgow Riderz. This was where I truly fell in love with cycling. I joined the club during the winter therefore I was firstly introduced to the madness that is Cyclocross, only about two months after joining the head coach Ed Shackley suggested I come to my first cross race. I finished third…there was three people in the race. But I didn’t care, I was hooked.

From there I learned how to ride a track bike on a completely flat velodrome in Bellahouston Park. Then the rollers on a road bike and how to race mountain bikes. All of these disciplines I eventually managed to represent Scotland in, all thanks to the guys at Glasgow Riderz and of course my parents. I certainly couldn’t have got to where I am now without them, so I’d like to say a massive thank you! 🙂

In the future I would love to become a professional road rider and hopefully win the World Road race championships and many women’s world tour races.
